Unemployment falls in November

OECD Observer

The OECD-area unemployment rate on a standardised basis was 6.6 per cent in November (2), 0.1 per cent lower than in October, and 0.4 percentage points lower than a year earlier. The unemployment rate fell to 6.9 per cent in Canada, to 4.5 per cent in Japan, to 6.7 per cent in Australia, to 8.7 per cent in Belgium, to 10.5 per cent in France, to 6.0 per cent in Ireland and to 2.6 per cent in Luxembourg. The unemployment rate was stable at 4.1 per cent in the United States, at 10.0 per cent in Finland, at 9.1 per cent in Germany, at 4.7 per cent in Portugal, at 15.4 per cent in Spain and at 6.6 per cent in Sweden.
