Mexican president meets with OECD head

OECD Observer

Mexican President-elect Vicente Fox discussed economic reform in his country during a meeting with OECD Secretary-General Donald Johnston in Paris on October 1.

The OECD has pointed out that Mexico needs a more equitable, broad-based tax system and Mr Fox pledged to introduce fiscal reform within months of taking office in December.

Mr Johnston and Mr Fox also discussed how to create a better climate for attracting foreign direct investment to Mexico, and how to boost trade with the European Union.
