Effectopedia, chemical risks and health

Exposure to a chemical can lead to adverse effects on the health of people and wildlife.

To anticipate and understand the relationships, the OECD, with support from the European Commission, has developed an Adverse Outcome Pathway (AOP) tool in a bid to describe a logical sequence of causally linked events at different levels of biological organisation. These pathways will help support chemical risk assessment.

An AOP Wiki has now been launched at www.effectopedia.org, and the OECD Series on Adverse Outcome Pathways can be accessed at www.oecdilibrary.org/environment/oecd-series-on-adverse-outcome-pathways_2415170x.
